Spring Plans Can Begin!!!!!

Sunday April 23, 2006

This house we bought in September of 2003 started as a cabin about 40 years ago and was added on to. Therefore causing some problems because the roofing system wasn’t taken into consideration when doing the add ons. This tree had fallen on our house during a storm May 30th, 2004.

This last couple weeks the plan to create a better drainage around this area and put in a little deck was started. First we needed to remove the stump of the tree that had fallen on the house. Then with a lot of work by Robert (my son-in-law) digging around it, the stump could be removed.

Yesterday my son-in-laws, Robert and Richard, removed the stump left from a tree we had removed.
Richard brought over his car hauler truck and used his wench to pull it out. This was not an easy task. They first had to get it out of the hole and then come in a different way in order to not distroy Mom’s Rose bush, a Lilac tree, purple Iris and Peonies getting ready to bloom. (about this time they asked me if I didn’t have some knitting to do! LOL)

Next project before going on with the drainage and deck is the removal of another large tree. Will let you know how that goes!

  1. We’ve got stumps all over our yard – 4 that I can think of off the top of my head. Last year I built a planter around one of them, filled it in and planted lilies in it.

My mother-in-law and step-father-in-law live in a camp on a river. They plan on adding on to it. It’s so nice and cozy – just a good size for the two of them. They’d just like to make the kitchen bigger, build on a bedroom, knock the existing bedroom wall out and make it part of the living room.
